The Santos is indeed a sector of the Costa Rican territory, where altitude, climate, and fertility and it has allowed farmers to take coffee production to the extreme of excellence, to the point that it has won recognition for the creation of the best coffee in the country. The Santos Zone is formed by the cantons of Dota, Tarrazú and Leon Cortés, located in the southeast sector of the province of San José.
In Dota, there is the Monument to the Fallen Heroes during the Civil War of 1948: a mother (the Mother Country) that protects with Costa Rican arms, expressed by a group of men and women. In the mountain, next to the river Savegre, is the National Park Los Quetzales, a sanctuary that houses about 200 species of birds, like tanagers, hummingbirds, woodpeckers and, logically, the great quetzales. And if you take the alternative to visit Los Santos, do not forget to go down to San Gerardo de Dota, a dreamy village where you can enjoy, in an exquisite way, the inspiring mountain environment.
