Ciudad Neily
Historically, Ciudad Neily has been a community of special importance to the economy of the southern tip of the province of Puntarenas, in its origins, because of its status as a center of commerce and entertainment, and now, among other reasons, for being the political center of the Canton of Corridors.
Ciudad Neily, the headland of Corredores, is located 342 kilometers southeast of San Jose, capital of Costa Rica, but is only 18 kilometers from the border crossing of Paso Canoas. Its name pays homage to Ricardo Neily Jop, founder of the city.
The commercial importance of Ciudad Neily comes from its excellent location, in relation to the other cities and the other cantons of the southern area: San Vito de Coto Brus, Golfito and Puerto Cortés de Osa. It is the strategic place preferred by the agents of sales that move by the zone south.
But the community was also privileged with the construction of the inter-American highway south, which runs along the south side of the central hull, which makes it attractive for the displacement of Costa Ricans traveling to Paso Canoas.
