Playa Negra is one of the most consistent waves and breaks for surfing across the region, making it a very popular beach in the northwestern Guanacaste. It is famous for recording Endless Summer II, which was made here. This sandy beach is a bit dark in the south of the lovely Playa Avellana and is heading for rocky outcrops that make it ideal for beginners and experienced surfers.

The break for surfing at Playa Negra is a reef break with a hollow right and can be quite congested. However if you are able to catch a good wave, it’s worth the try surfing here.

Has a number of excellent hotels, resorts and accommodations on the beach, like a pension special budget for the cluster of surfers. When you are hungry to be recognized Café Playa Negra which is the delight of the local Ticos. Just in front of the breaks for surfing is the perfect place to feel a little cold and taken a couple of drinks of beer Imperial. For those not interested in surfing, you can run a little further south from the main beach, where you will find peace and stillness.

Getting to Playa Negra by itself can be a bit difficult because there is no public transport to arrive here. But tours can be arranged through agencies and travel in Tamarindo are made in four-wheel vehicles and roads are difficult to pass.
