This park has the highest mountain in Central America: the Cerro Chirripó of 3819 meters of altitude. This mountain is part of the Cordillera de Talamanca is not of volcanic origin. There is a comfortable haven for visitors. The lake is located near the peak, was formed by the glaciers of the last ice age. This park is a refuge for large numbers of wild animals such as tapirs and jaguars. The observation of birds is extensive, and coming from three different areas.
