The first direct flight between Costa Rica and England arrived Wednesday afternoon from the Juan Santamaria Airport in London Gatwick International Airport.

The Boeing 777 with 275 passengers capacity landed at 3:25 p. m. on Costa Rican soil.

The flight was received by President of the Republic, Luis Guillermo Solis, the second vice president Ana Helena Chacon and Tourism Minister, Mauricio Ventura.

Solis said the arrival of British Airways flight represents "a milestone" in the history of tourism in Costa Rica as it is the second direct connection with Europe.
