According to a statement released by Presidential House, the potential for Costa Rica with this announcement results in mobilizing more than 30,000 passengers per year.

Additionally, it opens possibilities for connections to 130 destinations to which the airline flies and generates benefits to foreign trade, given the capacity to transport cargo these aircraft.

British Airways will fly twice a week in the summer season in the UK (Wednesday and Saturday) and in winter three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), departing from London Gatwick. The aircraft has 48 seats in class J, 24 W class and 203 in economy.

The new flight is part of the efforts of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) to attract more airlines to Costa Rica, both in North America, the main market which come tourists and others who seek to promote, such as Europe and South America.

Europe is the third largest source market of tourists to Costa Rica, after North America and Central America. Last year reached 370 482 European visitors, according to statistics from the website of the ICT.

The number of Europeans is very low when compared with 1,245,037 Turisas who came from North America (US, Canada and Mexico) in 2014. But it is a significant sum compared with 138 138 South Americans who entered Costa Rica last year or 27 592 Asians made the tourism in our territory in 2014.
