The new services will be held from 15 December this year and April 30, 2016
WestJet, the Canadian airline will add two new flights temporarily to Costa Rica, which will be held in the high season of summer.
The first service will be between Toronto and the Juan Santamaria Airport. It will be held at two frequencies a week, Tuesday and Sunday in a Boeing 737-700 with capacity for 136 passengers, said in a press release by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT).
WestJet This service will be held from 15 December this year and will run until April 26, 2016.
The second service will take place between Calgary and Daniel Oduber airport, the city of Liberia, with a frequency of four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. This capacity is a maximum of 136 passengers per flight.
Tourism Minister, Mauricio Ventura, emphasized the importance of these services, such as first air links with two of the most important Canadian cities to Costa Rica would be made.
He added that Toronto gathers 12.1% of the top prospects for our country and Calgary 5.0%. These people, he added, are characterized by a high interest in visiting or revisiting the country, being seasoned travelers, committed to sustainability, with higher income and education levels.
WestJet began operations in Costa Rica in 2012 with the Toronto-Liberia route, our country being the first destination in Central America, which is reinforced with these new operations benefiting the main Costa Rican airports, explained the head of the ICT investment attraction Hermes Navarro.
Canada accounts for Costa Rica the second emitter of tourists entering the area via the world, only after the United States. Last year 155 103 Canadians were recorded by air, representing an increase of 7.5% compared with 2013, according to data provided by the ICT.
