The North American carrier Alaska Airlines will fly eight times per week as from next October 31 in the two commercial airports of the country most important; as the company announced this Thursday. In accordance with the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), the company will fly four times per week in the Los Angeles path-San Jose; and four in the Los Angeles-Liberia. To operate the destinations, Alaska Airlines will use the most recent models of the Boeing 737 with a capacity of up to 181 seats. This will be the first occasion that the airline will fly to a destination in Latin America, excluding Mexico. Alberto Lopez, general manager of the ICT, explained that the news reflects the efforts the country has undertaken in the main tourist-generating markets. Lopez added that the company represents to Costa Rica an important increase in passengers, because California has the largest amount high interest in prospectuses; with 15.2 %. He also added that the connections will benefit the air facilities in the Juan Santamaria Airport and Daniel Oduber. The official of the ICT emphasized that the negotiating process lasted about three years and that in previous October, during a visit to Seattle, was presented to the country as an ideal destination of services.
