 At 9:30 am. this Sunday landed at the Juan Santamaria International Airport direct the inaugural flight of the airline Cubana Airlines in the path The Habana-San Jose.

From this Sunday, Cubana Airlines will fly to the country on Thursday and Sunday in an Antonov 158, with capacity for 85 passengers. 
Representatives of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), the signing cuban and Aeris Holding Costa Rica (responsible for operating the air terminal) arrived at the Juan Santamaria to receive the inaugural flight. 
Alberto Lopez, general manager of the ICT, said that the country has positioned itself as a highly competitive destination due to the efforts to ensure the increase in frequency of flights, new flights and the attraction of other airlines to the country.

The general manager of Cubana de Aviación, Daniel Mendez, said that the goal of reviving the direct flights to Costa Rica will strengthen the partnership and enhance the commercial development Solimar in both nations. 
Rafael Mencia, CEO of Aeris Holding Costa Rica, commented that the decision to return to the Cuban country, shall facilitate the arrival of the Russian market in multidestination programs. 
"It also represents an opportunity for the Costa Ricans who decide to travel to that destination", considered Mencia. 
In 2013 there were 3,372 Cuban arrivals to the country and it is expected that the increase be reassessed with the new service. A total of 4,146 Russian tourists visited Costa Rica last year.
