ICT RECOMMENDS THE CANTON OF OSA AS A COMPLETE TOURIST DESTINATION.

The canton of Osa, Puntarenas, is one of the most diverse, varied and intense destinations in our country. In addition to the sighting of humpback whales near the Marino Ballena National Park, whose season has just started, Osa offers national and international tourists complementary possibilities such as visiting the protected areas of Corcovado and Piedras Blancas or a visit to the set of pre-Columbian spheres at the Museum Site. Farm 6.

In this canton, diving and snorkeling are practiced in Isla del Caño and Uvita, there is a variety of rural tourism offers, cultural activities in indigenous territories and bird watching, boat trips through the mangroves of Térraba-Sierpe and the possibility of learning to surf on beaches like Dominical and Dominicalito or enjoy dreamy sunsets.

To group and organize the diverse information on this destination, the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) publishes the Osa Tourist and Cultural Guide, prepared in conjunction with businessmen in the area, the Osa Chamber of Tourism and the local government. The guide provides visitors with detailed information to plan their visit to the canton, discover the wide tourist offer of the place and its most outstanding attractions. This production had the support of the Ministry of Culture and Youth

“This tourist and cultural guide to the canton of Osa is an invitation to national and foreign tourists to visit the area and discover its natural beauties, attractions, companies, foods, customs and its people. It is an effort by many local actors who provided information that will allow us to discover what a region of tourism excellence in this country means as a tourism product, ”said Rodolfo Lizano, Director of Tourism Planning and Development at ICT.

For Jorge Alberto Cole de León, mayor of the Municipality of Osa, this guide will show the scenic and cultural beauties of the canton, as well as all of our exuberant natural wealth. We have more than 77% of our territory dedicated to conservation areas, 270 kilometers of beaches, a pre-Columbian legacy and much to discover. “We have bet to show the tourist enterprises and the entire industry that revolves around them. Osa is a pioneer in sustainable tourism and we avoid the use of plastic and paper as much as possible, for this reason this interactive guide is congruent with our objectives and will allow tourists to connect with a beautiful world, precisely at the beginning of the season of sighting of whales, “he concluded.
