¿Cuál es el depósito de garantía para alquilar un vehículo en Costa Rica?

As regards to vehicle rental services and any other business where there are risks involved, it is fair for the leasing company, as well for the user, to have a backup to cover the costs of any accidents and incidents that may occur.

In Costa Rica, all car rental companies require a guarantee deposit to cover the tax deductibles for insurance policies and other optional services provided by the car rental company.

The deposit is also a guarantee to cover any breach of the terms and conditions of the contract and the fines that may result from violations of the Costa Rican Traffic Law. The amount will depend on several factors such as the characteristics of the vehicle and the age of the driver who must be over 21 years of age to drive in Costa Rica.

In our company the security deposit is $1,000 USD to cover the policies, plus the rental expenses. The amount may vary according to the season.

In any case, it must be backed by a credit card in the name of the tenant. It is mandatory for the client to present his/her credit card in order to rent a vehicle.
