Costa Rica is a small country but is abundant in natural treasures that attracts a growing number of researchers, volunteers and tourists from all over the world.
It is surprising, its territory can be easily traveled from Panama to Nicaragua borders in a short time by asphalted roads.
It has 35 protected areas, which include national parks, national reserves, biological reserves, wildlife refuges and a national monument (Guayabo, Turrialba) some of which have been declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a World Heritage Site.
Many parks, beaches and volcanoes to know
Each protected site is arranged for the visitor to come into contact with a natural environment filled with hundreds of species of flora and fauna. In Costa Rica there are more than 140 registered beaches, such as Coco, Flamingo, Nosara, Sámara and Tamarindo beaches in Guanacaste, and of course the Manuel Antonio, Jacó and Zancudo beaches in Puntarenas.
And as a complement to this complex of natural treasures, Costa Rica has 112 volcanoes, five of them are spectacular since they’re active:
- Arenal Volcano: A perfect cone, it has thermal, curative and cosmetic waters for the visitors to enjoy.
- Poás Volcano: It has one of the largest craters in the world.
- Irazu Volcano: Thanks to its easy accessibility, it is the most visited volcano in the country.
- Turrialba Volcano: Majestic, it often has strong and unpredictable eruptions of gas and ash.
- Rincón de la Vieja: It is located in one of the most beautiful national parks of Costa Rica, it has beautiful landscapes, waterfalls, fumaroles, waterfalls and hot springs.
Wherever you look, Costa Rica has a lot to offer, both to nationals and foreigners.
