San Jose Costa Rica-La Habana Flights
ICT and Aeris confirmed the return of the operations between San Jose and Havana
The Cubana de Aviacion airline will resume direct flights between Cuba and Costa Rica from November 16, he explained the Cuban news agency.
THE web site of the airline already offers flight to Costa Rica.
The information confirmed Friday the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (ICT) and the company Aeris, administrator of the Juan Santamaria international airport, after a consultation of this journal.
The new route is part of the actions that seek to strengthen the tourist exchange between the two Nations and incorporate direct flights between San José and Havana, which are not carried out since August 2008.
Walfredo Riverón, head of corporate communications of Cubana, told the agency that the link will have two weekly frequencies, the days Thursday and Sunday with departure from Havana in the morning and lasting in its crossing of two hours and thirty minutes, said the official.
He also stressed that the operations are effected by aircraft type Antonov 158, recent addition to the company’s fleet, with 85 passengers.
The airline also reported that they are already to sell tickets at their offices and travel agencies.
According to data provided by the ICT, the previous year there were 3,372 departures of Cubans into the country and expected this new connection to boost tourism and increase international arrivals to Costa Rica.
