Although this is not a town that stands out for its size or vertical architecture typical of modern cities, Palmar Norte in Osa, is a community destined to become a center of an intense socioeconomic activity because of its strategic location.
Palmar Norte is where the coastal highway and the inter-American highway are located, theses highways connect Palmar with the Pacific coast -between the cities of Puerto Cortés and Puntarenas- and with the Greater Metropolitan Area of Costa Rica.
But Palmar Norte, along with its “twin community” called Palmar Sur (separated only by the Grande de Térraba river) are also the starting point to travel around several small towns and commercial, productive and tourist attractions, the latter are national and international recognized.
In Palmar are located the Finca 6, Batambal, Grijalba 2 and El Silencio sites, declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as World Heritage sites. This is where the greatest concentration of enigmatic stone spheres are found, whose origin remains a mystery.
How to get to Palmar Norte and Palmar Sur?
In Palmar Sur there is an airport that receives regular flights from the Juan Santamaría Airport and receives air taxis and private flights from the most diverse places in the country; There are few kilometers of route between the airport to Palmar Norte.
